Inspired by head baker Cindy Zurias abolishing the night shift, and making other improvements, at Little Bread Pedlar, we’re working with her and Sustain's Roots to Work to organise an online peer-to-peer event in January.

The aim is to help Real Bread bakery owners, head bakers and managers to share information and advice about making Real Bread baking a more sustainable and rewarding career, physically, psychologically and financially.

Potential topics include:

  • Adapting operations to meet the needs of staff members
  • Building an inclusive, mutually-supportive culture
  • Implementing systems for monitoring and supporting wellbeing
  • Becoming a Living Wage employer
  • Participating in an Investors in People programme
  • Creating another structured programme for personal and professional development

Get in touch

As the first step, we’re trying to find two or three more speakers/presenters/panellists (format TBC) to join Cindy in talking from personal experience about building better into the systems and culture of a bakery.

If you’ve experience of making and implementing changes for the benefit of bakery team members, are game to give a short talk and answer questions to help inform and inspire others, please drop us a line: realbread@sustainweb.org

Run as part of the Real Bread Campaign’s mission of finding and sharing ways of making bread better for us, better for our communities and better for the planet.
