CHEF DE PARTIE - GROW HACKNEY

  • START DATE: May 2024
  • LOCATION: Hackney Wick (E9 5LN)
  • SALARY: £15 p/h + Tips
  • RESPONSIBLE TO: Head Chef and Sous Chef
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR: Agency and KPs on shift (as required)
  • ANNUAL LEAVE: 5.6 working weeks this includes bank holidays (this is calculated pro-rata)

OVERVIEW

Work with Grow’s Head Chef/Kitchen Manager and a team of chefs in GROW's kitchen! We are a fresh produce kitchen with a strong emphasis on middle eastern flavours.

  • We always seek to use local suppliers/producers where possible
  • We are seeking an experienced chef de partie to join our team in a busy environment
  • Someone with a great work ethic who can work well as a team or independently
  • We are a very positive, sociable team so we're looking for like-minded individuals
  • Works well under pressure, communicates well and has excellent time management
  • Duties include Food preparation and Service
  • Kitchen operating hours - Wed – Sun  11am- 9pm 

REQUIREMENTS 

Proven experience as a Chef with a minimum of 3 years in this role. You would have worked all sections of the kitchen with a good knowledge of culinary techniques and practices.

  • 2 satisfactory references 
  • Right to work in the U.K
  • Level 2 food hygiene certificate
  • A great attitude 

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning and storing food
  • Cook and plate various menu items according to recipes and quality standards 
  • Assist with food preparation tasks in the kitchen as needed 
  • To ensure that all dishes reach the passe correctly garnished, the correct portion and size, presented onto the correct serving dish.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a smooth workflow
  • Monitor food stock levels and communicate inventory needs to the sous chef
  • Putting away deliveries and checking them off, reporting any items missing
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality
  • Delegating tasks to the Kitchen Porter and ensuring all due diligence and paperwork is maintained
  • To deputise in the sous chef’s absence and take charge of the kitchen when directed to
  • To attend training courses as and when required

We are an accredited Hackney Nights Venue and part of an ecosystem of artist and maker spaces and a working yard called Grow Studios.
