Job description

Purpose of the role:

Sustainable Merton, Merton’s local environmental charity, is looking for a Community Fridge Coordinator to run the day to day operations of Merton’s Community Fridge, the first of its kind in the borough. You will be a proactive and vigilant individual with a passion for fair and connected communities and an interest in saving food waste.

Our Community Fridge is located in a friendly, accessible space, where surplus food is donated by businesses and residents and re-distributed to the community. In particular, we focus on helping those in food insecurity. Sustainable Merton’s Community Fridge opened in spring 2020 and is located at Morden Baptist Church, with additional storage in Morden Civic Centre. The Fridge has grown substantially since then and now serves between 180 - 200 people each week.

The Community Fridge Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of Fridge coordination including regular communication with volunteers, planning the weekly and monthly rota, volunteer recruitment, data collection and inputting and management of donated food.
