Job description

About Farmacy:

At Farmacy we understand that the way we eat determines not only the way we feel and act but the way our landscapes look and the legacies we leave to our children. Farmacy exists to leverage food as a vehicle for restoring human health and relationships, including that most important relationship of all—the relationship to the land that sustains all life.

Farmacy is a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to sustainable and Biodynamic food production and environmental stewardship. Our mission is to cultivate nutritious, dynamic foods that nourish both people and the planet. The heart of our operation is our biodynamic kitchen garden, which serves as a model for ecological agriculture and a source of inspiration and leaning platform for our community.

About the role:

We are seeking an assistant grower to support day-to-day operations for our Biodynamic, no-dig, vibrant market garden. You will be involved in all aspects of biodynamic practices, crop planning, soil health, pest management, and harvest operations and will primarily be growing vegetables, flowers, herbs, top and soft fruit for Farmacy restaurant and events. Applicants need to bring some experience, enthusiasm for growing in harmony with nature, strength, and love for physical hard work and a true interest in Biodynamics. You will be committed to producing high-quality, nutritious produce.

This is a 3 day a week role, reduced to 1-2 days during the winter months.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in biodynamic or organic farming/gardening.
  • Interest and understanding of biodynamic principles, soil science, and permaculture.
  • Self motivation and ability to work well in a team.
  • Flexible work ethic and desire to contribute and learn across many areas of the role.
  • A commitment to environmental sustainability and food justice.

What we can offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
  • Being part of a dynamic, passionate team dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment and food industry.
