Job description
Role Details HCGA manages a number of commercial contracts on behalf of local companies and local authorities. We also run corporate team days for local companies throughout the year on our sites as well as community partner sites. These fees-based contracts assist local companies fulfilling their CSR commitments and also support our charitable projects by providing income.
The role of the Maintenance Gardener will assist in the delivery of the above work for the charity.
Role responsibilities include:
Delivering a high standard of horticultural services to our clients
Delivering corporate volunteering team days
Transportation of tools and materials between sites using the van
To provide and ensure a high standard of service administration, including reporting back to their line manager regarding contract work, effective time management and regular liaison with clients and other colleagues
To adhere and implement policies and procedures of the charity
Maintaining excellent health and safety standards
To work individually and collectively to promote a constructive, fair and sensitive approach to working with others from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
Person Specification Essential Criteria
Good horticultural knowledge and plant base
Confident with plant health and cross contamination prevention measures
A good knowledge of garden tools and how to use them safely and effectively
Ability to work on their own initiative independently as well as when part of a team
Effective time management skills
Be focused, hard-working and swift when delivering maintenance services
Enthusiasm and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Have a current, clean driving licence and be willing to drive a van
Excellent communication (written and verbal) with a diverse range of people, including volunteers, colleagues, community and corporate partners
Ability to maintain excellent health and safety standards whilst carrying out all work
Desirable Criteria
Level 2 horticultural qualification or maintenance gardening experience in a professional setting
Experience delivering corporate volunteering team days
