Job description
We are welcoming horticultural trainees to join us for the 2025 growing season! Propagation Place is the Farm’s community e-commerce business, which supports local volunteers and trainees to grow and sell vegetable plug plants. As a trainee you will become a vital part of our small team, learning practically from within the nursery how to maintain and grow vegetable plug plants for the business. You will work directly under our professional grower in a dynamic community enterprise.
This traineeship offers valuable and unique real-life work experience. We deliver a basic introduction to all aspects of the project alongside horticultural training, including safeguarding, CV development, employability, and marketing. At the beginning of your placement, we will work with you to look at what you would most benefit from, making that the focus of your traineeship placement.
Please note, this is an UNPAID role. The traineeship is primarily created to support people aged 18-25 who may be claiming Universal Credit, are between jobs, are considering a career change, or are keen to break into this relatively inaccessible sector with a high entry-level qualification.
Application information
Please submit your application by the 10th of January 2025.
They can be in video or written format, and you only need to include a CV or cover letter if you would like to.
We are interested in hearing why you would like to join the traineeship, and it will be useful to know about your prior gardening experience. However, this is not a skills or qualifications-based role, and candidates will be selected based on suitability for the traineeship. Enthusiasm and willingness will play a big part in this, as they will demonstrate good teamwork, interest in the project, and ability to follow instructions. We will also be interested to hear how you will approach the role, what you hope to get out of it, and anything else we may need to know about you (e.g. learning styles, learning supports, etc.).
