Job description

ABOUT NATOORA

Natoora started 20 years ago with a very simple, yet powerful goal to find incredible flavour in fresh produce. Today, our dedication to this mission has grown into an impactful network of over 500 independent growers spanning nine sourcing hubs across three continents. Our mission is clear: to fix the food system at scale by reinstating flavour, nutrition and transparency, all while safeguarding the health of our soils.

Experts in sourcing flavour-first, seasonal fruits and vegetables, we work with hundreds of kitchens and some of the most exciting and influential chefs in London, New York, Miami, Copenhagen, Paris, and Melbourne. However, our commitment to creating a better food system also extends beyond professional kitchens to a strong community of home consumers across the US and the UK. From chefs, to home cooks to schoolchildren, we want to empower everyone to make better food choices and become informed drivers of change.

On the way, we have been named a Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Company, appeared on the Financial Times’ list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies, and proudly received a GQ Food & Drinks Sustainability Award.

ABOUT THE FARM

Great Fen is Natoora’s five acre market garden on the Hampshire Surrey border. Established in 2022, the farm produces a diverse and ever-evolving crop plan of flavour-first varieties using organic methods, balancing staple crops with more innovative, experimental trials. Supplying some of London’s most progressive restaurants through Natoora’s supply chain, the farm presents a rare opportunity for collaboration with some of London’s most forward thinking chefs. With ambitious plans to build on these foundations over the next 12 months, this role represents a chance to join our team at an exciting moment in our journey.

We are looking for a grower to join us from April to October with an opportunity for ongoing work later in the year depending on how the year progresses.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a candidate with several years of growing experience, who can bring new ideas to our small team, and who can adapt to the demands of a small farm in the early stages of expansion. This person will be involved in helping to guide the farm's vision with the farm manager and senior grower, and will be flexible in their mindset with the challenges and approach to everyday growing, as well as the long-term aims of the farm.

This person should be comfortable with all aspects of commercial organic horticulture, and feel confident in their own ability to provide insight into the farm's evolution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Not limited to, but mainly

  • Up to 5 acres of vegetable production
  • Preparation of beds for growing
  • Sowing, propagation and care of nursery crops
  • Quality control of crops
  • Field sowing and planting
  • Management of pests and diseases
  • Coordinating harvest and volunteer days with the senior grower
  • Maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery

Food for lunch is provided during the growing season.

There is a possibility for accommodation on the farm, depending on the applicant's situation. The accommodation would also be suitable for a couple.

PERKS

  • Natoora produce at a significant discount
  • Your birthday off*

*Once you’ve hit the 6 month mark and when working 32 hrs or more.

Our vision for a better food system is built on real human relationships and a diversity of experience, perspective and ideas. We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief.

When applying to a job, the personal data contained in your application will be collected by Natoora, which is located at Unit 6 Discovery Business Park St James's Road, London SE16 4RA and can be contacted by emailing hello@natoora.com.
