Job description

OmVed Gardens is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This role is integral in building relationships, fostering community partnerships, and increasing awareness of OmVed Gardens’ mission and programme. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator, passionate about community engagement, sustainability and experienced working with communities, creating and coordinating outreach programs that create meaningful connections with diverse audiences.

Position: Community Engagement Coordinator

Contract type: Freelance / part time

Responsible to: Director of OmVed Gardens

Pay: £16 per hour

Hours: 2 Days / 8-16 Hours per week

Location: Hybrid, remote & on-site at OmVed Gardens, North London

Expected commencement: February 2025

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with individuals, organisations, schools, universities and stakeholders in London and beyond.  Represent the organisation at community events, meetings, and public forums.

Programme Coordination: Plan, organise, and execute outreach programs and events to engage the community. Develop and distribute outreach materials, including flyers, newsletters, and digital content. Identify opportunities for collaboration and community impact initiatives.

Advocacy and Education: Raise awareness about the OmVed Gardens’ mission and programme of events. Ensure outreach efforts are culturally inclusive and accessible to diverse populations.

Data and Reporting: Track and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts and activities. Prepare reports on community engagement metrics and program outcomes. Maintain accurate records of contacts, events, and communications.

Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to align outreach efforts with organisational goals. Coordinate with events and communication teams to amplify outreach campaigns.

Personal Specification

  • Experience in community engagement, communications or a similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Google workspace. 
  • Passionate about community engagement, sustainability and education.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and schedules.
