Job description

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of our newest Neal’s Yard Dairy shop in Barons Court in late March/early April. We are seeking a talented and experienced Assistant Manager to lead this exciting venture. If you are passionate about cheese, exceptional customer service, and team leadership, this is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping our newest location.

Role Overview

As the leader of the Barons Court shop, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring its success. This role combines cheese expertise, operational management, and team leadership to deliver outstanding customer experiences and drive sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading the team to achieve sales plans and forecasts, developing plans to grow sales year on year, reviewing performance and strategy to achieve sales targets and metrics.
• Overseeing the shop’s weekly organisation and administration, including rotas, payroll, and stock management.
• Recruiting, training, and coaching retail cheesemongers to deliver exceptional service and develop their skills.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards and maintaining rigorous quality assurance practices.
• Monitoring stock levels and reviewing the product range to maximise sales opportunities.
• Managing shop maintenance, refrigeration, and compliance with licensing conditions, including responsible alcohol sales.
• Flexibly responding to the evolving needs of a new business, such as adjusting trading hours, shift patterns, and operational strategies.

Who You Are

We’re seeking someone with the following:

• A solid understanding of the cheeses Neal’s Yard Dairy offers, coupled with experience in cheese care, tasting, and quality assessment.
• A proactive salesperson with a track record of exceeding sales targets, implementing action plans, and creating opportunities to grow revenue.
• A welcoming host who sets the tone for outstanding customer engagement and inclusive hospitality.
• A motivational leader who sets clear targets, reviews progress, and fosters a positive team culture.
• A creative thinker with a can-do attitude, capable of addressing challenges and exceeding expectations.
• A networker who will establish strong relationships with the local community and businesses to create a niche for Neal’s Yard Dairy in Barons Court.
• Proficient in keeping the team informed, collaborating with senior management, and sharing progress updates effectively.

 Our successful candidate will be offered:

• A salary of £32,000+ dependent on experience
• 6 weeks holiday increasing to 7 weeks (subject to length of service)
