Job description
As the main point of contact for your team and other departments, you will co-ordinate Suma Brand product development, maintain existing product ranges and work on promotional initiatives across all function areas. You will support team members to scope, research, develop and review new products, assisting with product performance reports and rebranding schedules. There may be the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of products. You will have a high level of input and the responsibility for developing and delivering our brand strategy.
Main Tasks:
- To coordinate the brand team to ensure the whole team contributes to our business objectives
- Arrange team meetings, producing and managing action points, and providing brief minutes,
- Liaise closely with the Commerce Coordinators and attend regular meetings to discuss cross-departmental issues
- Work with marketing and other teams to arrange brand promotional activity across all function areas (pricelist promotions, sales office promotions, exhibitions/shows, web), point of sale material etc.)
- Liaise with other function areas to gain feedback and new ideas and communicate ideas at Brand Team meetings.
- Coordinate the cross-functional activities for product launches and re-launches, communicate new initiatives, provide internal promotion to build knowledge and enthusiasm across the whole co-op regarding Brand activity.
- Carry out /feed in to the annual review process, working with the People Coordinator (training provided)
- Feedback any recruitment issues to the People Coordinator
- Monitor budgets, person day and expenditure – including coordinating the holiday and cover rota, keeping it up to date – feedback to Ops Coordinator.
- Feedback any compliance issues to the Compliance Coordinator
- Facilitate the identification of potential new products with the Buying and Sales teams, including the commercial viability based on market research, cost, industry trends.
- Coordinate the design of packaging for both new products and re-launches and provide label briefs for Design.
- Monitor and analyse product performance, providing insights for continuous improvement to existing products and services and implement those which will bring business benefits.
- Collaborate with QC and / or Compliance to ensure product quality with industry standards e.g. check Fairtrade, Organic and cruelty-free, including other certification and Trademarks for products and Brands where necessary.
- Build and maintain relationships with brand product suppliers.
- To attend relevant trade shows, including overseas, to meet suppliers, and visit suppliers when required.
- Have an insight and interest in industry events, to be able to feed knowledge back into future brand strategy developments
- Strengthen working partnerships with the creative teams, to integrate market research outcomes into the product development approach
- Build further relationships with Buying Coordinator to champion Suma brand products across all buyer portfolios, and developing key partnerships with each buyer to set plans out for Suma brand opportunities.

Job Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience of marketing or brand development
- Familiar with project management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good working knowledge on Microsoft Office/Excel
- Solid organisational skills, including multitasking and time management
- Reliable and dependable, takes accountability
- Strong leadership, coordination abilities and ability to motivate others
- Excellent initiative; able to work independently and self-manage
- Enthusiasm for and dedication to Suma Brand
- Creative, innovative and dynamic
- Good analytical skills, accuracy and excellent attention to detail
Desirable
- Qualifications in marketing, product development or product management
- Experience of managing projects
- Experience of budgeting and resource planning
- Effective negotiation skills
- Ability to critically analyse and create solutions
- Knowledge of Suma departments, systems and working methods
- Knowledge of or suitability for project management
- Knowledge of product life cycles and the wholefoods market
Commitment -2-3 days per week with the potential to flex up or down when required
Coordinator – Reports Commerce Zone Coordinators and People Development Coordinator.
Notice period – if you wish to leave the post we require you to give us four weeks’ notice – this does not affect your contractual obligation on notice if leaving Suma, but is for post holders who move to other internal positions and may be negotiated. If you hand in your notice we reserve the right to take you out of the post with immediate effect.
