Job description

Stepney City Farm is a 4.5 acre mixed-agriculture farm in the heart of London. We are a community charity working to improve lives through farming. We produce food sustainably to sell locally and welcome visitors to the farm free of charge 6 days a week, 50 weeks a year.

We provide first-rate facilities for livestock and poultry (including sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys, rabbits, chickens and ducks), studio spaces for rural artists, an extensive food-growing programme, and a weekly Farmer's Market. The Farm provides opportunities for children and adults to interact with farm animals in nature and practice arts and crafts such as pottery and woodwork. It connects visitors with food production, horticulture and natural resources through practical workshops and educational courses, volunteering opportunities, and the provision of 78 allotments.

Stepney City Farm’s extensive Education Programme is one of our core charitable activities, and includes on-site workshops and interactive tours for schools, work experience for young people, and a range of learning opportunities for families.

The Schools Programme Manager is responsible for the booking, administration, session development and delivery, monitoring and reporting for our curriculum-linked programme for Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2 (primary school) groups, welcoming over 5,000 school children a year to the Farm.

The post holder is also responsible for the development and delivery of additional educational programmes, such as after-school clubs, holiday activities, SEND and SEMH tailored programmes, and the sale and delivery of our best-practice egg incubation projects for local schools, which generate income in support of the Farm’s educational activities.

We are seeking a candidate with experience of environmental education with primary aged children in a community setting, and a track record of meeting delivery targets and reporting impact. You should have a flexible and responsive approach, and a willingness to respond to new opportunities for working with schools.

  • Salary: £30,000 FTE (£24,000 0.8 FTE)
  • Hours: 9am-5.30pm Monday-Thursday
  • Closing date: 10am, Wednesday 26 February 2025
  • Start date: Monday 7 April 2025
