Job description
Agricultural Lead - Maternity Cover
The Role
We are seeking 9-12 months maternity cover for our Agricultural Lead who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our 107-acre demonstration farm. You will oversee all aspects of FarmED’s mixed farming enterprises, including livestock, arable and agroforestry, ensuring alignment with regenerative agriculture principles. You will lead farm walks for a wide range of people including farmers, students and corporate organisations looking to learn more about regenerative farming practices. You will also lead discussions and events, oversee Health & Safety on the farm and manage the relationship with the CSA.
Key Responsibilities
Co-ordinate our educational, knowledge exchange and training programme: ○ Develop and deliver the programme of events and courses in line with the FarmED mission. ○ Ensure there are clear learning outcomes and high quality, credible content ○ Assist with marketing initiatives to ensure maximum attendance and income generated from events ○ Liase with the events coordinator and operational team to ensure that events run smoothly and all participants get excellent customer service ○ Measure feedback and attendance
Carry out Farm Walks, Away days & talks: ○ Lead informative and credible walks around the farm to a range of audiences ○ Represent FarmED at external events such as Groundswell and Moreton Show ○ Speak at a range of events held at FarmED for farmers, corporate organisations and stakeholders involved in the food and farming system.
Make sure that the Health & Safety guidelines on the farm are followed: ○ Carry out daily visual checks, highlighting any concerns to the General Manager ○ Ensure equipment is being maintained and that safety procedures are being followed ○ Carry out quarterly H&S meetings ○ Arrange training as required
