Job description

We’re looking for a skilled, enthusiastic Senior Chef to work with our Kitchen Manager and take the lead on all things production — fermenting, pickling, batch cooking freezer meals, and prepping vibrant salads. All from scratch with seasonal and surplus ingredients. This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety, flexibility, and the chance to make a real impact. Initially maternity cover with scope to build the role.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading Production – Prep and batch cooking of salads, meals, pickles, and ferments.
  • Creative Cooking – Adapting to what’s in season or surplus and making it shine.
  • Catering Support – Helping prepare and present food for events and wholesale partners.
  • Kitchen Ops – Managing stock, food storage, and keeping everything running smoothly.
  • Maintaining Standards – Ensuring high levels of hygiene, food safety, and kitchen organisation.
  • Collaborating – Working closely with our Kitchen Manager and Founder to hit production and value goals and have fun doing it.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a professional kitchen – ideally in a senior or lead role.
  • Love of whole foods, seasonal cooking, and sustainable practices.
  • Confident with batch cooking, prep systems, and managing production.
  • Flexible and creative – able to cook inventively with what’s available.
  • Physically fit – this is a hands-on role involving some lifting and movement.
  • Organised and proactive – good at keeping systems in place.
  • Food hygiene knowledge (certification is good!).

Why Work With Us?

  • Be part of a mission-driven, multi-award-winning food business.
  • Weekday hours and flexibility to fit around your life.
  • Positive, collaborative kitchen environment.
  • Loads of opportunity for creativity, input and growth.

You’ll be making food that genuinely makes a difference
